Presented by Shelton Williams, Director, The Osgood Center for International Studies.
Dr. Williams has worked in education and government, including a tour of duty in the Department of State under Secretary of State Madeline Albright in which he worked extensively on the permanent extension of the Nuclear Nonproliferation Treaty. He also served the Office of International Programs, Nuclear Regulatory Commission.

National Gallery of Art Skating Rink, Opens November 14
The rink will be open every day except Christmas and New Year’s Day, when it rains or when the temperature drops below 20 degrees.
Hours are Monday-Thursday 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., Friday and Saturday 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. and Sunday 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Speakeasy Shorts, November 14, 7:30pm
SpeakeasyShorts is a new type of film competition – a collaboration between filmmakers and storytellers. Eight filmmaking teams have only 5 days to write, shoot, edit-and screen a film based on stories from eight local storytellers. The kicker: none of the teams know anything about the stories before they are presented. Films: Saturday, November 22, 7:30pm and 9:30pm

Barracks Row Culinary Education Crawl, November 15 – 16, 9:30am – 5:00pm
On Saturday, November 15 and Sunday, November 16 Barracks Row/ 8th Street becomes a cooking school campus – first class begins at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, November 15 and the last class begins on Sunday, November 16 at 4:30 p.m. There are 25 classes during the two day cooking school (so far). Take one class or schedule a whole day or entire an weekend of classes- it’s totally a-la-carte.

The Voice of Anne Frank, November 24, 2014, 6:00 pm
The Voice of Anne Frank speaks to the cares and delights of a thirteen year old girl forced to reckon with the extraordinary circumstances of her time. Her message endures far beyond the last pages of her diary to express not only her very special voice but also that of those who survived, those who did not, and those of us who are left to fond contemporary meaning in her story. Dancer Mirenka Cechová and cellist Nancy Jo Snider utilize dance, music, spoken word, sound effects, and lighting to convey the words of Anne Frank’s diary at the Kennedy Center Millennium Stage.

Union Station Holiday Celebration, November 28
The Holiday train and wreaths on the exterior of the building will once again be on view. The train which will unveil on November 23rd in the Main Hall is very popular with travelers and shoppers and viewing the train has become a holiday tradition for many of our guests. From the elaborate mountain landscape to the vintage cars, trees, people, dogs and cats make for a realistic setting. We’ve heard whispers that there may be some special additions this year as well. Our beautiful, fascinating lit holiday wreaths are sure to amaze visitors and tenants alike.
