WHERE: WISH Classroom on Capitol Hill
WHAT: An informative panel of former interns and young professionals discuss ways to make the most of your DC experiences and to continue benefitting from your DC internship after the summer’s end. Insights and tips will include skill building, networking, gaining better work projects, and proven strategies for gaining full-time positions in DC or back home after you graduate. Panelists will represent many career fields.

Abe Henry
Abe Henry is currently a Program Financial Specialist at Banyan Global, where he works on USAID-funded program financial and risk-management. Previously he has worked as an Associate Program Officer at Counterpart International, providing financial and technical guidance to USAID, USDA, and US Department of Labor contracts in Ethiopia, Guatemala, the Dominican Republic, and Burkina Faso. For Counterpart, he traveled to Ethiopia during the Fall of 2012 to support the implementation of a beekeeping intervention for rural economic development. Mr. Henry is a former Department of State intern (Fall 2010) and a 2011 graduate of the University of Minnesota Morris with a B.A. in International Relations and Spanish.
Jay Hunter
A Pittsburgh native, Jay Hunter is a former WISH intern who lived in the Congressional in early 2011. The Ohio State graduate has held various internships including two stints with Sen. Bob Casey. He has worked for CQ Roll Call since early 2012 and is currently an assistant editor. He is responsible for data related to member biographical information and reference graphics, interviews and writes profiles of Members of Congress, manages a blog for CQ.com and leads Roll Call’s annual 50 Richest project.
Steven Lucas
Steven Lucas is in his second year of working fulltime at the Overseas Private Investment Corporation (OPIC), but has been involved with the agency since 2009. Currently, he is a Project Finance Assistant in the Portfolio Management Division of OCFO. Initially, Mr. Lucas interned with OPIC as an undergraduate junior in the Human Resources Department and returned for the summer internship program in 2010 after receiving his B.B.A. in Real Estate and Managerial Finance from the University of Mississippi. He completed his M.I.M. in International Financial Management at the University of Maryland University College last May. Steven monitors OPIC’s investment guarantee framework portfolio with partners Citibank, Wells Fargo, & PNC that consist of developmental projects globally. Currently, his role has increased in aiding the Office of External Affairs in business outreach and business development for potential clients. Bennett Resnik
Bennett Resnik currently works in the Office of the General Counsel for the Department of Energy. Bennett is a Juris Doctor candidate at Vermont Law School, with a concentration in energy and environmental law and policy. He has previously worked for Baker Hughes Incorporated, an oil and gas well-service provider, focusing on hydraulic fracturing regulations. Prior to law school, Bennett was an Inter-Governmental Affairs Associate at CHG & Associates, a transportation and infrastructure lobbying firm. Throughout his career, Bennett has held internships with Congresswoman Carolyn Maloney (D-NY), INTERPOL at the Department of Justice, and British Parliament in London. An active member of the Energy Bar Association and American Bar Association, Bennett has been published on topics of energy and environmental law and policy. He received his B.A. in Political Science from James Madison University in 2011 and a Certificate in Energy Innovation and Emerging Technologies from Stanford in 2014. Bennett will begin working in the energy and public policy practices of the law firm Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman in September.
Carly Quaglio
Carly Quaglio is an Associate Client Manager at Change.org, where she helps nonprofits and businesses invested in social good leverage campaign tools to recruit new supporters. Before joining Change.org, Carly worked on the digital campaigns team at the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee and trained as a communications fellow at the Women’s Campaign Fund. During her time as a WISH intern in the spring of 2012, she interned with the Latin America Working Group’s Cuba program to help ease travel restrictions to the country and increase diplomacy between American and Cuban officials. She graduated magna cum laude in May 2012 from James Madison University with a BA in Global Justice Studies and Spanish and a minor in Latin American and Caribbean Studies.
