Congressman Bob Goodlatte
Congressman Bob Goodlatte’s Washington D.C. office is currently seeking interns for the Spring semester. The internship offers invaluable work experience to college students and recent graduates interested in a career in Government, particularly the work of the Judiciary Committee, which Congressman Goodlatte chairs. Congressman Trent Franks
The Office of Congressman Trent Franks (R-AZ) seeks Spring 2016 interns for his Washington D.C. office. Candidates should be energetic, hard-working, eager to learn, and able to work in a fast-paced environment. Interns will be responsible for answering phones, speaking with constituents about legislative affairs, scheduling and giving Capitol tours, attending briefings, and supporting the legislative staff. Other responsibilities may include editing or writing briefs, doing research on current legislation, planning events on the Hill, and responding to constituent mail. Congressman Diane Black
A Tennessee House Republican seeks full-time and part-time interns to begin as soon as possible for the fall semester. Duties will include conducting legislative research, attending Congressional hearings and briefings on behalf of the staff, writing memos, welcoming guests, handling constituent communications, and giving tours of the Capitol. College students, recent graduates, and those with an interest in tax, budget, and health care policy are encouraged to apply. Tennessee ties are a plus, but not required. Congressman J. Randy Forbes
Congressman J. Randy Forbes (R-VA) has a full-time, unpaid internship available for the 2016 spring semester in his Washington, DC office to begin in January. Duties include answering telephones and greeting visitors, collecting constituent information, researching legislation and policy issues, drafting policy updates, attending briefings and hearings, and assisting communications, administrative, and legislative staff. Must be highly motivated, self-starter, detail oriented, and possess excellent organizational and communication skills, a strong work ethic, a positive attitude and have the ability to manage multiple tasks on a deadline. This is a great opportunity for college students and graduates seeking Capitol Hill experience. Virginia ties preferred, but not necessary. Congressman Marsha Blackburn
Southern conservative GOP member of Congress is currently seeking legislative and press interns for the Spring 2016 semester in the Washington, D.C. office. Interns will have the opportunity to learn about legislative processes and the federal government by working closely with legislative, communications, and constituent services staff members. Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, helping staff with legislative projects, attending congressional briefings and hearings, giving tours of the U.S. Capitol, answering phones, and greeting office visitors. Congressman Sean Duffy
Congressman Sean Duffy (WI-07) is seeking a full-time intern for his Washington, D.C. office, beginning January 4. Duties include but are not limited to: providing general constituent services including answering phone calls, sorting mail, and recording and reporting opinions on legislative matters; assisting constituents in their visits to Washington, D.C. and giving tours of the Capitol; conducting research for staff members on various issues; working with the legislative team in drafting constituent correspondence; any other duties that may be assigned. Candidates must be detail oriented with excellent writing and communication skills, and be able to multi-task. Congressman Donald Norcross
Daily tasks include, but are not limited to, answering phones, responding to constituent requests, compiling research on targeted issues and assisting with staff-led projects. In addition, interns lead Capitol tours, run errands and complete various administrative tasks as needed. Interns will also have the opportunity to attend special events, such as committee hearings, briefings and seminars. Internships run throughout the fall, spring or summer semesters for college students. Although this internship is unpaid, students gain invaluable work experience. The hours are flexible to accommodate students’ hectic course schedules, but generally run 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Prospective applications should be highly motivated self-starters, eager to learn about Capitol Hill and the mechanisms of the United States Congress. We are looking for individuals with an excellent work ethic, ability to multitask and most importantly, a willingness to learn. They must demonstrate: An ability to produce polished work, maintain professionalism in a work environment, an interest in the legislative process, strong communication skills, and experience using Microsoft Office. Congressman Bruce Westerman
Congressman Bruce Westerman (AR-04) is currently accepting applications for his Spring and Summer 2016 internship program in his Washington, D.C. office. He is seeking highly qualified candidates who are motivated, detail-oriented, and personable. The ideal candidates will have excellent research and writing abilities, be able to multi-task and interact well with constituents. Interns will have the opportunity to experience working on Capitol Hill, learn about the legislative process, and attend briefings of interest. Responsibilities will include answering the phone, giving tours of the Capitol, assisting with constituent correspondence, and supporting the legislative and communication staff on various projects. Although internships are unpaid, the office is happy to fill out any necessary forms for students to receive credit at their respective college or university. Internship opportunities are available in Senator Hirono’s Hawaii and Washington, DC offices. These unpaid* internships provide opportunities to gain firsthand knowledge of how a Senate office operates, engage with constituents, observe the federal legislative process, and develop research skills related to public policy. Qualified applicants should possess a professional and courteous demeanor, outstanding interpersonal communication skills, the ability to multi-task, excellent attention to detail, the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, interest in the governmental process, and an awareness of community and cultural issues. Internships are designed primarily for the educational benefit of students currently enrolled in undergraduate degree programs. Congressman Rodney Davis’s office is looking for current college students for unpaid Congressional internship positions. These internships are available on either a full-time or part-time basis. Qualified candidates will be highly organized, prompt, responsible, and ready to work in a fast paced environment. Strong oral and communication skills are a must. Daily duties will include assisting staff, answering phones, organizing mail, giving tours of the Capitol Building, and attending hearings and briefings for legislative staff. Interns will gain valuable Capitol Hill experience and further their understanding of the legislative process.
