Scott Salmon is General Manager of Government Affairs in Washington, D.C., for United States Steel Corporation. He manages a strategic portfolio of public policy issues that encompasses energy, environment, tax, and international matters. Prior to assuming his current duties, Mr. Salmon provided public affairs support to the company’s acquisition and expansion efforts, including designing and helping to staff the company’s European governmental affairs organization. He first joined the corporation in 1993, when it was known as USX Corporation and still included its Marathon Oil subsidiary.
Prior to joining U.S. Steel, Mr. Salmon served as Special Assistant for Legislative Affairs at the Office of Management and Budget in the George H.W. Bush Administration; as a professional staffer for the U.S. House of Representatives Committee on the Budget; and as a Foreign Intelligence Specialist, Economist, and International Economist for several federal agencies. His B.A. is from American University. He holds two Masters degrees from Johns Hopkins and one from Georgetown.
