It’s officially October and that means one thing – Fall is here! That’s right, our favorite time of the year is upon us. Halloween is just around the corner and if you’re like us, you probably can’t wait to get decorating and cover your house (or dorm) in pumpkins.
I don’t know about you guys, but I’m a little tired of seeing the same old boring pumpkin carvings. So just for fun, I searched long and hard through Pinterest to find 7 genius pumpkin ideas you can easily recreate at home.
Get your DIY hats at the ready and prepare to have some fall fun.
1. Pumpkins Carved With A Drill
It’s time to get your drill out (or even a screw driver) and use it for something a little different. Why not use a drill to create holes in your pumpkin. You can keep it simple or you could get really crafty and create different shapes.
2. Falling Leaves
Well it is fall after all. Add a real touch of fall to your pumkins by stenciling on some falling leaves. Find out how you can get crafty here.
3. Use A Cookie Cutter
You can use quirky and unusual utensils from around your kitchen to create a pumpkin with a difference. For example, if you use cookie cutters to carve your pumpkin you could end up with lots of fun designs like stars, hearts or even animals.
4. Get Thumbtack Happy
Looking to add a touch of chic to your pumpkins? This is just the design for you. Go get yourself a few boxes of gold thumbtacks and cover your pumpkins to your hearts content.
5. Seeing Stars
You can create a pumpkin with a difference by carving different-sized stars all over your pumpkin. You could mix and match too by carving stars and moons to light up your fall.
6. Lantern Lights
Why not take a leaf out of New York City stylist Marissa Corwin’s book and put a cheeky spin on the jack-o’-lantern. She took the phrase to a whole new level and created glowing silhouettes of old-school lamps, that are a bit more on the sophisticated side than your usual pumpkin carving. Find out how to create your own pumpkin lantern here.
7. Pumpkin Vase
The final way to have fun with your pumpkin carving this fall is to use your pumpkin as a vase. This one is easy, all you have to do is carve into the top of your pumpkin, and voila… you have a fun pumpkin vase for your flowers.
