Upcoming Events:

Jan. 29- Chinese New Year Parade and Festival in Washington, DC
2 – 5 p.m., Giant Firecracker set off at 3:45 p.m
. Chinatown – on H Street, NW, between 6th and 8th Streets Each year a parade is held in Chinatown to celebrate the Chinese New Year. The event features the traditional Chinese Dragon Dance, Kung Fu demonstrations and live musical entertainment.

Verizon Center is a busy place this time of year. It is the home of the Washington Capitals, Wizards and plays host to Georgetown University Basketball team.

Washington Wizards vs. Denver Nuggets (NBA): Jan. 20, 7:00p
Georgetown Hoyas vs. Rutgers Scarlet Knight (College Basketball):  Jan. 21, 12:00pm
Georgetown Hoyas vs. Louisville Cardinals (College Basketball): Jan. 22, 5:00pm

Smithsonian American Art Museum: Take 5! Andrea Wood Quintet Presents Winter Blues:  Thursday, January 19, 2012, 5 – 7pm
Relax and Take 5! With free, live jazz in a cool, contemporary space. Stop by the Courtyard Café for refreshments. For added fun, borrow a board game to play during the concert!

*Tips: While visiting the Smithsonian museums ask about the Highlights Tours that run daily and are FREE. Here is the routine schedule for Highlight Tours.

– American Art Museum: most days -12:30 PM & 2 PM. (No tour 2nd Tuesday of each Month)
– National Museum of Natural History: Through May 2012: Most Tues.-Fri.: 10:30 AM and 1:30 PM
– National Museum of American History: Daily, 10:15 AM and 1 PM
