Council on Hemispheric Affairs (COHA)
The Council on Hemispheric Affairs (COHA), a major tax-exempt, nonprofit, and nonpartisan national research and information organization, has offered internships in Washington, D.C. in the fields of U.S., Latin American, and Canadian relations. These internships provide practical, entry level experience regarding a variety of political, economic, diplomatic, and trade issues. Interns play an integral role in COHA’s activities, which include the following: issuing statements and providing commentary to the print and electronic media; submitting articles on hemispheric issues to regional and national media; monitoring human rights and press freedom violations; promoting constructive U.S. policy initiatives; formulating viable alternatives that seek a diplomatic rather than a military solution to disputes; attending briefings by visiting Latin American dignitaries; and surveying legislation focused on social justice and the expansion of authentic democratic institutions.

Voice of America
The Television Branch of the Voice of America’s Africa Division is responsible for all television initiatives targeted to viewers in sub-Saharan Africa. Viewers of affiliate stations in approximately 40 countries receive our programming. Current programming includes weekly production of two television programs and other special projects. Interns help advance our organizational goals to provide quality and informative programming to African viewers. Interns also gain valuable and relevant television production experience in an interesting and exciting environment.

The Digital Content/Communications division communicates the U.S. Chamber’s pro-business messages by creating content for the organization’s leading web properties.
Job Responsibilities: Create social media content, proofread and upload web content, Track, analyze, and report web metrics, Follow news, events, and business trends to suggest story ideas; and interview subjects, report, and write for digital outlet. Background in journalism or digital communications and an interest in public policy. Experience working in the editorial department of a student newspaper or other publication or website is a plus. Senator Richard Blumenthal
Senator Blumenthal’s office seeks interns for his Washington D.C. office for the spring 2016 semester. Responsibilities include researching legislative issues, attending hearings, writing memos, assisting with constituent services, and administrative duties. Applicants must be motivated, hard-working, and have strong communication skills. This unpaid internship is a great introduction to Capitol Hill. Connecticut ties are preferred, but not required. Full-time applicants will be given preference. The Woodrow Wilson Center
The Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars is looking for qualified students (advanced undergraduate or graduate) interested in being part-time research assistant interns in the Spring 2016 semester. An intern typically works 12-15 hours a week per scholar. (The number of hours can be adjusted accordingly to fulfill academic requirements). The priority deadline to apply is November 15, 2015. The office of Congressman Bill Johnson (R-OH) is currently seeking highly motivated and organized applicants for a full or part-time unpaid internship for the 2016 spring internship program. The internship is scheduled to run from January 11 to May 6. Candidates should possess interest in the legislative process, excellent communication skills, and attention to detail. Responsibilities will mostly include, but are not limited to: answering phones, leading tours of the U.S. Capitol, attending and summarizing hearings and/or briefings for legislative staff, and performing various administrative tasks. Ohio ties are preferred, but are not required. The months of the internship may vary depending on the availability or school schedule of the applicant.
