The annual event offers fun activities to motivate you to take charge of your health. Try a new sport such as golf, skiing or snowboarding with the virtual simulators. Check your body mass index, take a heart risk test, learn about ergonomics and much more.

Recitation of the “I Have a Dream Speech” at the Lincoln Memorial, date TBA
The National Park Service will place a wreath at the Lincoln Memorial, on the steps where Dr. King gave his 1963 speech. The recitation of the “I Have a Dream” speech will be presented by students of Washington, DC’s Watkins Elementary School.

Magna Carta: Muse and Mentor, ongoing until January 19
This exhibition commemorates the 800th anniversary of the creation of Magna Carta, the charter of liberties that England’s King John granted to his barons in 1215 in order to halt their rebellion and restore their allegiance to his throne.

Opening of the DC Street Car, Starting January 19
DC’s transportation will be expanded with the opening of the 37 mile light rail trolley system. The first line to open starts just a couple of blocks from the WISH office, on H Street near Union Station. Fares, though not yet determined, are affordable.

Let Freedom Ring Concert, January 19, 6:00 pm
The Kennedy Center and Georgetown University host a musical celebration featuring the Let Freedom Ring Choir and other special guests honoring Martin Luther King Jr.’s legacy in a free Millennium Stage concert. Tickets are required and will be distributed the day of the event in front of the Concert Hall beginning at 5 p.m. The 2015 concert features nine-time Grammy Award® -winning singer and actress Natalie Cole.

Arlington National Cemetery
For a more solemn sightseeing experience, stroll the grounds of the Arlington National Cemetery. The 624 acre park has a paved road for visitors and overlooks almost all of DC. Make sure to stop and visit the Welcome Center, the Kennedy grave site, and see the changing of the guard at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.
