King Green is a native of Portland, OR and graduate of the University of Oregon. While at the University of Oregon, he double majored in Political Science and Sociology. Committed to activism throughout his college career, he has long been a champion of the underserved; seeking to ensure their voices are heard and empowered.
King served as Chair of the Intersectional Events Committee and a member of the UO Student Activities Board, creating attractive and engaging programming for the student population of the University. As Chair of Intersectional Events, he revitalized the UO Queer Film Festival, the longest-running LGBTQ+ film festival in the Pacific Northwest. He also worked as an Outreach Assistant for the Holden Center for Leadership and Community Engagement, crafting engagement strategies to highlight available community service opportunities and bolster leadership among the student population.
King currently serves in the office of Oregon Congressman Peter DeFazio.
Asked about what he thought of WISH, King shared, “Living in WISH housing has been great! I reside at the Congressional, around the corner from the Supreme Court. It has made getting to work really easy – as we are in walking distance of the Capitol building. The Congressional is also a very communal space, so I’ve been able to make new friends and become closer with members of my program’s cohort. I’m not looking forward to leaving, but I’m grateful for WISH and for the time I’ve had in DC. Thanks WISH!”
Currently, King is actively looking for full-time employment in DC. He credits WISH for fast-tracking his job search, “WISH Housing has made getting to interviews on the Hill a lot easier.”
WISH is accepting applications for the spring and fall semesters. Join King, and the tens of thousands of our WISH alumni before him, by signing up with WISH and becoming part of something special here in Washington DC.
