A summer away in DC, are you ready for it? Are you ready for the fast paced city, full of new places, people and experiences? Are you ready to start your new internship and make connections with people from all around the world? Are you ready to meet fellow interns at the new place that you will call home? What exactly do you need to know while living with WISH this summer in Washington, D.C. ?
WISH held a #WISHMoveIn Twitter party to answer any and all questions that our summer interns had. There were a lot of questions about life in DC, life as an intern, and what to do for fun. Three lucky residents were even chosen for a free metro gift card! We loved answering all of your questions and hope we were able to help! Did you miss the party? Don’t worry, we have Part One of our recap below!
Questions About living at WISH:
You’ve got questions about WISH, we’ve got answers.
“What do I bring??” was one of the most asked question during the twitter party!
When we say you do not need much, we are being 100% honest! WISH provides furniture, beds, plates, cups, silverware, vacuum cleaners, brooms, and trash cans! All you really need are clothes, shoes, bed sheets, pillows, toiletries, and hangers. Bring that and you are set!
Q: Are laundry facilities provided? If not, how much does it cost to use them/where are they located? #WISHMoveIn
A: We’ve got you covered! Laundry in all of our complexes are completely free! All you need is soap.
Q: Is there a way to find out who is living in my apartment and who my roommate will be? #WISHMoveIn
A: Just give WISH a call and we can let you know your assignments!
Q: How big are the kitchens? Do they come with appliances?#WISHMoveIn
A: Our kitchens come full furnished as well. We give you bowls, plates, silverware, microwaves, ovens, etc. You just be sure to put food in the cabinet!
A: All the bathrooms (and apartments) are cleaned prior to you moving in. How clean the apartment and bathrooms stay are up to you, my friend!
Q: Is there free wi-fi?
A: Yes there is!
Q: Can anyone just get into the apartment complexes?
A: All of our entry points to our apartments require a key given only to residents. If you have guests, you will have to physically go let them in.
Other Questions About DC:
Moving to DC is a lot to take in at once. What kind of city are you moving into? Here are some of the most asked other questions about DC!
Q: What’s the weather like in DC? #WISHMoveIn
A: Currently, DC has been floating between the 80s and 90s. It is nice, sunny and hot summer weather here.
Q: Is DC an expensive city to live in? #WISHMoveIn
A: How you spend your money in DC is all about how much you take the time to research. Some things in DC can be a tad pricey, but the same thing could be offered for a cheaper price at the next store. DC also has a lot of free events on the hill all the time. You just have to put yourself out there to find it when they pop up!
Q: How is public transportation?
A: We highly recommend downloading a metro app for metro riders! You should also keep up with what is going on with the metro line so you won’t be late due to the metro.
Q: How is the job market?
A: DC is full of young professionals! Honestly it is not unheard of for people to move to DC without a job and find one within the next couple of weeks or month. Interning in DC is a great way to network and make connects so by the time you are ready for full time job, you have someone you can call.
That’s all for Part One folks! We want to thank everyone for participating! Stay connected with us on Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook for more updates on future events and contests! Check back next week for Part Two!
