Yesterday, Billy and Martha were helping me set up my LinkedIn profile (I got my frat buddies to endorse me as an \u201cambassador of swag\u201d like twenty eight times).\u00a0 After like an hour, I got bored of trying to find a picture of me wearing a shirt with buttons,\u00a0 so I went to read some of the articles they have on there.\u00a0 And man, what a bummer<\/em>. Like it was all this stuff about how to be \u201csuccessful\u201d, and what \u201csuccessful\u201d people do.\u00a0 Like \u201cwake up early, make a to-do list, prioritize.\u201d\u00a0 All this stuff that I am super not good at. Sometimes it feels like everyone around me is majorly Type-A. Like they\u2019re all about networking and getting down to business climbing that corporate jungle gym or whatever.\u00a0 What if you\u2019re chill, like Type-B , but still want to be \u201csuccessful\u201d? I can\u2019t be the only dude out there getting that vibe. So with that in mind, Woody Wilson presents:<\/p>\n

1.)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Networking? Is That Like Partying?<\/h4>\n

So I\u2019m not the best at spreadsheets or waking up before noon.\u00a0 But I am TOTALLY the best at making friends \u2013 like good <\/em>friends.\u00a0 I just got a way with people, and every single job I\u2019ve gotten, I got because my buddy hooked me up.\u00a0 Chill people don\u2019t get all overly eager when it comes to networking, so you never come off as like you want something.\u00a0 That\u2019s the best way to network \u2013 like, actually finding people you wanna hang with.<\/p>\n

2.)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Failing Doesn\u2019t Bug You That Much<\/h4>\n

I fail all the time<\/em>.\u00a0 Like fall on my face fail.\u00a0 But I\u2019m the kind of guy who lets that stuff roll off my back.\u00a0 I think knowing how to move on to the next thing is totes vital for a great career.\u00a0 And like, I\u2019m so willing to try ANYTHING cause if it ends up failing, who cares? I\u2019ll just do something else, right?<\/p>\n

3.)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 You\u2019re Enjoying the Moment<\/h4>\n

My super ambitious buddies are always looking for the NEXT thing, the NEXT step up in their career.\u00a0 No matter what job they\u2019re doing, it\u2019s always a \u201cstep\u201d towards something like, cosmically large and amazing.\u00a0 What about zenning out and being like \u2018oh hey, this moment right now is pretty cool.\u00a0 I like where I\u2019m working and I want to do a good job.\u2019 If you\u2019re always thinking about how it\u2019s gonna make you President of the Nutso Workaholic Society, you\u2019re gonna drive yourself crazy.\u00a0 Just take a breath. I\u2019m great at breaths. \u00a0 So don\u2019t fret dudes and dudettes.
