USCIRF reviews the facts and circumstances of religious freedom violations and makes policy recommendations to the President, Secretary of State, and Congress. USCIRF Commissioners are appointed by the President and Congressional leadership of both political parties.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><b><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">General Information on USCIRF Internships<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n<p>USCIRF offers the following types of internships:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Administrative<\/li>\n<li>Communications<\/li>\n<li>Government Relations<\/li>\n<li>Legal Research<\/li>\n<li>Regional Policy Analysis (Africa; East Asia; Europe and Central Asia; Middle East; South Asia)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Currently enrolled students are eligible for internships with USCIRF. Internships are available year-round, and applications are accepted on a rolling basis. However, the following are recommended deadlines for submitting application materials:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Fall\u00a0Semester: July 1<\/li>\n<li>Spring Semester: November 1<\/li>\n<li>Summer Semester: April 1<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>All USCIRF internships are\u00a0unpaid; and<\/li>\n<li>able\u00a0to successfully complete a background check.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Eligible candidates should have:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>a minimum 2.5 GPA;<\/li>\n<li>strong communication skills, both written and oral;<\/li>\n<li>strong organizational skills and attention to detail;<\/li>\n<li>an interest in human rights, foreign policy, and\/or government;<\/li>\n<li>ability to work independently, with minimal supervision, and as part of a team;<\/li>\n<li>a willingness to perform administrative tasks; and<\/li>\n<li>familiarity with the full Microsoft Office\u00a0suite (Excel and Word in particular).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><b><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Communication Internship<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Maintain and expand database of media, NGO, think tank, academia, and religious \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 contacts;<\/li>\n<li>Post on social media sites such as Twitter and Facebook;<\/li>\n<li>Help update website;<\/li>\n<li>Help prepare materials for distribution to the public and press, including press releases, policy briefs, newsletters, and reports;<\/li>\n<li>Create\u00a0daily press clips for distribution;<\/li>\n<li>Help organize and provide logistical support for events such as press conferences, public hearings, and speaking engagements;<\/li>\n<li>Provide general administrative support as needed.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Eligible candidates should be:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>U.S. citizens (or otherwise authorized to intern with the U.S. government);<\/li>\n<li>currently enrolled undergraduates or graduate students (including JD and LLM candidates); and<\/li>\n<li>able\u00a0to successfully complete a background check.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Eligible candidates should have:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>a\u00a0minimum 2.5 GPA;<\/li>\n<li>experience with Social Media such as Twitter and Facebook;<\/li>\n<li>knowledge of Adobe InDesign and other publishing programs;<\/li>\n<li>excellent writing, editing, and organizational skills;<\/li>\n<li>an interest in human rights and foreign policy;<\/li>\n<li>ability to work independently, with minimal supervision, and as part of a team;\u00a0and<\/li>\n<li>a willingness to perform administrative tasks.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><b><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Government Relations Internship<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Track foreign policy\u00a0statements, religious freedom, human rights and\u00a0related legislation, and relevant policy publications;<\/li>\n<li>Attend\u00a0and\u00a0report on Congressional hearings;<\/li>\n<li>Review\u00a0relevant government agency websites and publications daily;<\/li>\n<li>Research\u00a0positions and actions taken by Members of Congress and Congressional\u00a0committees and organizations;<\/li>\n<li>Undertake other research as needed;<\/li>\n<li>Provide\u00a0general administrative support as needed.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Eligible candidates should be:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>U.S. citizens (or otherwise authorized to intern with the U.S. government);<\/li>\n<li>currently enrolled undergraduates or graduate students (including JD and LLM candidates); and<\/li>\n<li>able to successfully complete a background check.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Eligible candidates should have:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>a minimum 2.5 GPA;<\/li>\n<li>demonstrable knowledge, including academic background, of a particular world region;<\/li>\n<li>completed coursework (or have experience) in public policy, international affairs, political science, human rights, religious affairs, government affairs, or a related field;<\/li>\n<li>a willingness to perform administrative tasks;<\/li>\n<li>familiarity with the full Microsoft Office suite.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Fluency in a foreign language (particularly Mandarin Chinese, Russian, or Arabic) is preferred, but not required.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp;
