The festival opens <b>Thursday, (so get your ticket today!!)<\/b> at 7 pm. with the <a href=\"http:\/\/pulitzercenter.org\/blog\/north-america-washington-dc-premiere-abominable-crime-pulitzer-center-first-film-festival-homophobia-jamaica\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Washington, DC premiere of &#8220;The Abominable Crime,&#8221;<\/a> a film about the deadly consequences of homophobia in Jamaica, and the fight for freedom, security, and understanding. Evening includes a discussion with director Micah Fink and Maurice Tomlinson, whose story is told in the film. This premiere is free but reservations required at <a href=\"mailto:rsvp@pulitzercenter.org\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">rsvp@pulitzercenter.org<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>All films present heartbreaking stories of struggle and injustice that rarely receive the attention they deserve\u2013\u2013but also stories of<b> hope<\/b>, <b>redemption<\/b> and <b>justice<\/b> in the face of seemingly insurmountable challenges. Directed by Habiba Nosheen and Hilke Schellmann.<\/p>\n<p><b>Seeds of Hope<\/b>:One woman shines a beacon of hope to dispel the despair of women survivors of rape in the Democratic Republic of Congo. Directed by Fiona Lloyd-Davies.<\/p>\n<p><b>Pulitzer Center Photojournalist Shorts<\/b>: A special shorts program featuring work by award-winning photojournalists including Shiho Fukada, Stephanie Sinclair, Dominic Bracco II, Larry C.
