Working as an intern in Washington, D.C. during a COVID-19 pandemic may cause you to face a lot of challenges, the experience also includes opportunities for growth in your professional career. Washington Intern Student Housing (WISH) interns are finding endless opportunities on Capitol Hill among the COVID-19 crisis. Two WISH alumni shared their experiences of interning and working on Capitol Hill during the pandemic.<\/p>\n

Liberty University student, Brianna Tibbets, is interning in the office of U.S. Rep. Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) through her university\u2019s Washington Fellowship program. While in Washington, she is using the experience to gain knowledge about government and politics on a national level and hopes to work in an entry-level staff position upon graduation.<\/p>\n

\u201cHonestly, I\u2019ve loved this semester here in Washington D.C. and on Capitol Hill despite the pandemic. I\u2019ve had the opportu<\/strong><\/span>nity to connect with some awesome people, have great friendships, and endure so many once-in-a-lifetime experiences. Being here makes me realize this is the next step for me to reside in D.C.\u201d, said Tibbets.<\/strong><\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

CSUN graduate, Makenna Sievertson, has had a front-row view of some of the biggest stories developing on Capitol Hill: Impeachment hearings of President Donald Trump, the President\u2019s State of the Union Address and now, the House of Representatives response to COVID-19.<\/p>\n

Sievertson said that living in Washington, D.C., has been life-changing, and she was astonished by the endless opportunities available<\/p>\n

\u201cI love my job. I love where I am at \u2013 this has been a great learning experience and it is great to build upon.\u201d, said Sievertson.<\/span><\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote>\n
