WISH Celebrates Over 25 Years Making Internships a Community Affair<\/strong><\/p>\n

There\u2019s a saying in D.C. that the federal government, if not the entire D.C. metro area, cannot function without college interns.\u00a0 If that\u2019s indeed the case, then the Washington Intern Student Housing (WISH) organization, is a big engine keeping our community moving in the right direction.<\/p>\n

For over 25 years, WISH has been the leading intern housing provider in Washington, D.C. WISH partners with colleges and universities from around the world to provide student housing to thousands of D.C. interns for the semesters they are in D.C. whether it be fall, spring, summer or all year.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>\u201cEvery class, every semester and every year, WISH is introducing thousands of our nation\u2019s most talented, high-achieving students to the D.C. metro area.\u00a0 By the end of their semester, many of our interns have fallen in love with the community, so they come back to live, work and enjoy the DC area,\u201d said Vice President of School Partnerships and Student Engagement.\u00a0 \u201cWISH works hard to integrate our business model into the local economy to support businesses, while enhancing the character of our community.\u201d<\/p>\n

WISH has amassed an impressive real estate portfolio of row houses, townhomes and apartments at or near Capitol Hill, accommodating thousands of college interns cycling into the nation\u2019s capital every year.\u00a0 Operating in over two dozen properties, WISH is more than a conduit for schools, but a local woman owned business that\u2019s well networked, contributing to the community.<\/p>\n

WISH believes internships change lives and the student interns at WISH not only learn about national policy, but also about themselves.\u00a0 Recently, WISH interns from The Ohio State University gave back during their summer semester by volunteering to eradicate invasive weeds at Kenilworth Aquatic Gardens and serving at a local D.C. soup kitchen.\u00a0 The students even blogged, DC with a Cause<\/a>, about how rewarding volunteering can be to \u201cexplore and connect with the community.\u201d\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

WISH has a national network of over 25,000 alumni, many of whom work and reside in the D.C. area.\u00a0 You could say that WISH is a hybrid of attraction, attracting the nation\u2019s best and brightest, and recruiter, recruiting young talent looking to contribute to our local economy.\u00a0\u00a0 It\u2019s been a mutually beneficial relationship between the community and WISH.<\/p>\n
