WISH offers students more than political internships up on Capitol Hill.\u00a0 Our network of over 25,000 WISH alumni offers a diversity of internship opportunities that enables hundreds of students, every semester, to follow their passions and ultimately, land their dream jobs.<\/div>\n

We\u2019re very proud of our WISH alumni, Jana Liese of University of South Carolina and Amelia Iliohan of University of Kentucky<\/strong> who both pursued their passions in DC.\u00a0 Their respective newspapers featured their WISH internships, which we would like to share with you:<\/p>\n

\u201cI didn\u2019t know what I wanted to do my first year in college, but biochemistry seemed like a good place to start,\u201d Liese says. \u201cI love being in a lab. I definitely grew up in a family where being curious about things was the norm.\u201d \u2013 USC Student Newspaper<\/span><\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

University of South Carolina student Jana Liese knew from the time she was a junior in high school that she wanted to study infectious diseases.\u00a0 Nothing was going to stand in this WISH alumna\u2019s way.<\/p>\n

Jana accomplished what no student had been able to accomplish for nearly three decades; she landed an internship opportunity with the National Institute of Health.<\/strong> Read about how Jana\u2019s passion and WISH\u2019s dedication got her a great DC internship with one of the nation\u2019s leading research labs.<\/p>\n

South Carolina: Jana WISH Alumn Story<\/a><\/p>\n

University of Kentucky student Amelia Iliohan has a passion for farming and agriculture.<\/strong>\u00a0 She was raised on a farm in Madisonville, Kentucky.\u00a0 The agriculture major sought her DC spring internship with U.S. Rep. James Comer, R-Tompkinsville, who served as agriculture commissioner of Kentucky from 2012-16.<\/p>\n

\u201cStudying agriculture is not as specified as some degrees are, so I had a lot of flexibility,\u201d said Iliohan. \u201cI want to do government and community relations in agriculture, so it was a really good fit for me. The internship was definitely one of the greatest experiences of my professional and personal career.\u201d\u00a0 \u2013 The Messenger<\/strong><\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n
